Good day everyone!
What a pleasure to have everyone back after our winter break. I can safely say that it is lovely to have a nice long winter break, but it is doubly lovely to come back to a wonderful group of hardworking students. Yes, I am talking about 4th Grade. : ) This week we started off running. In math, we began to work on double digit multiplication, refreshed our memories on median and range, and ended off the week introducing estimation. In science we began talking about land forms - what they are and how they were formed. Students started a packet which well help think think about how they read nonfiction - and especially how they find the answers they need. In social studies we began to think about the Grade 4 stores - and take what we learned in writing last term to begin writing letters to Principal Shim. Meanwhile in reading and writing we began to learn about the American Revolution. Our students are very excited to tackle this huge topic and have been introduced to a number of resources to help them in their research. You can see pictures in the picture tab! At the end of the month we will have our jeoparbee. I will be sending home the vocabulary words for students to practice from next week. In the meantime, I want students to be focused when reading and to be thinking about how they are preparing for the Battle of the Books. Also, I sent home the Battle of the Books permission slips. Please sign them and send them back ASAP. Have a great weekend!!! - Mr. Baker
