Hi everyone, This week, students have been working busily to finish Term 4 projects and assignments. They have been equally strong during both independent and group projects. Great job class! Sports Day on Thursday was a smashing success as Grade 4 demonstrated significant sportsmanship and were excellent role models for all FP students. Grade 4 students were careful to guide the younger students in FP as well as cheered each other to do their best. Photos will come soon! A big thank you to parents for an educational and fun culture day! Grade 4 students enjoyed visiting each culture center, playing games, learning, and enjoying snacks. Thank you parents! You can see some photos in the photo section. Next week we will be having our Term 4 assembly as well as we will be uploading our portfolios for Term 4. Please be on the lookout! I hope you have a great weekend! - Mr. Baker -

Hi moms and dads!
I hope you all had as productive a week as we have had in Grade 4. Students have been on task and busy as bees working on their various projects. Whether in Science were we have just started a project to end out the term - students have chosen animals to investigate and research how animals are classified - how they are supported, how they move, and how they are different from each other. In Social Studies, we are nearing the end of our inquiry into how Buddhism and Confucius have affected Korean culture. In Writing, we have finished up our contributions to the book project as well as our culminating piece for our terms goal of writing literary essays. In Reading we continue to read and discuss Number the Stars as well as work within our historical fiction clubs. Finally in Math, we have finished our work on Fractions and have moved on to Area and Perimeter. Next week we will have two special events! On Thursday (4/26) we will have sports day! Students should come prepared to be outside for the majority of the day - hats, sunscreen, etc! Also, while they will not have their regular swimming class, they will be swimming. So swimming gear is a must! On Friday (4/27) we will have Culture/Diversity Day. We can't wait to see what parents have for us to see and do! We will not have uniform free Friday. Students do not need to pay 1,000 won that day. However, students are encouraged to wear clothes relating to a country from the list chosen below. It is representative of our CDS community. If students would like to wear clothes from another country not on the list, they should please email me for confirmation. Also, please don't go out of your way to gather items/go shopping! I have told students to find what they have at home and be creative. Korea, Taiwan, China Iraq, USA, Libya Canada, Russia, Australia Egypt, Japan, Kazakhstan Czech, Ireland, Philippines Finally, when picking up your child after school, please come to the green space. Students must not be wandering to find parents. Thank you. Have a great weekend everyone! -Mr. Baker- Hi parents!
It was lovely to meet with you on Friday. Parent-Teacher Conferences are such an integral part of our growth both in the classroom and at home. I found our discussions informative both as a teacher and parent. Thank you so much. For those who could not make it, I will be looking forward to seeing you in the coming weeks. The final PTC of the year does not mean that we do not have to meet again. As I said at the beginning of the year, I am free to meet any day after school with some notice. Also, please do not hesitate to email. Well, Term 4 continues to chug along. Students are busily working on their responses to literature, solidifying their knowledge of fractions, examining Korean cultural history through religion, working through historical fiction, as well as exploring the natural world of plants and animals. We look forward to showing what we know in both our online portfolios as well as in our book project. Enjoy the spring weather as much as you can! Mr. Baker Hello everyone!
Well, Battle of the Books has come to an end. I want to thank all parents for their support. Grade 4 (and 5) had a lot of fun and were introduced to some great reading. I know that perhaps they did not get the results they wanted in terms of wins, but the games were close and they demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout. Well done, CDS!! Please see the Photos tab for some pictures. Also much thanks to coaches, timers, and of course Ms. Choo, without whom BOB would not be possible. This week we will have another 4 day week for the kiddos but then on Friday we will be having Parent-Teacher Conferences. I urge all parents to come see me and the specialist teachers. You may sign up at the FP Weebly site. Click here. I have alloted 20 minute blocks, but we will try to conduct our interviews within 15 minutes. Students are free to join as well. I look forward to seeing you on Friday! Have a great week! - Mr. Baker - |
