This week we have been busy getting things done before the Chuseok break. In Science, we have been discussing the do's and don'ts of working with electricity while seeing just how we get our lights to turn on. In Social Studies we have been applying what we have learned while learning new things about the Later Silla period. Students have begun to work on a slide project in their groups. In Math, we tested our knowledge of tripe digit addition and subtraction and started a unit on data and how we organize our information. In Writing we continue to work on our stories - getting closer and closer to publishing; while in Reading we have finished The Tiger Rising and look forward to our written response after the Chuseok break. I wish you all a wonderful break! Enjoy! Mr. Baker p.s. Here is a picture of our recently formed recess book club enjoying a lunch with scary stories.

Hello everyone! Not too much to update you with this week as we have spent a fair amount of time with our MAP testing. I'm happy to report that we are all done and I am looking forward to seeing the results so that I may better know how to best help your children and my students. I am happy to report that our students were well-focused and took MAP seriously. Well done guys! Again, taking a MAP test, it is not expected to get every question right, but to help determine where you are academically - to see with which skills you are proficient, and where you need to give a little more focus. In Math we have continued to work on our two, three, and four digit addition using partial sums and column addition. Please check out the MATH VIDEOS tab for a refresher! In Social Studies, we examined the Early Silla period, how the mountainous region helped with their defense and how trade allowed them to foster a good relationship with the Tang dynasty in what is now China. Next week we will be back to academic norms. Have a great weekend!!
In Math we have been using two methods - partial sums and column addition, to solve double and triple digit problems.
In Science, we took some time to review and rethink about how light and sound move. While in Social Studies, we have been learning about the three kingdoms - with emphasis on Goguryeo. Next week, we will learn more about Silla! Next week, our students will be completing the first round of MAP tests. If you're want more information on MAP tests, click here. We will be testing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please be sure that your child is well rested and fed to keep energy levels high! We will also have Library Day on Wednesday. Visit the FP Weebly for more information. Thank you everyone! |
