Hello everyone!
A short message this week to say job well done on the Winter Concert. Congratulations to both Ms. Fitz and our FP student body for pulling off one of the best winter concerts. Thank you!! Next week we will have a slightly shorter week. That is, Friday will be a half day. On Friday, we have one of my favorite ceremonies here at CDS. The Candle Lighting Ceremony. I have asked two students to represent Grade 4 on stage along with students from Grades PK - 12. Bella will be lighting the candle, while Alex will read a line from the poem The Shortest Day, by Susan Cooper. At this ceremony we will also recognize students who have thus far exemplified the best of our ESLRs, that is, they have shown greatest promise in the 6Cs. Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Curiosity, Character, Communication, and Community. On Friday, buses will depart at 11:30. There will be no lunch. Have a great weekend! Mr. Baker Don't forget: Social Studies test (provinces, cities, and resources) on Tuesday, Math test (multiplication, decimals) on Thursday.

Hello everyone!
Happy Monday to you. Today we are starting our Battle of the Books lab! From today, students will be spending Monday afternoons reading their chosen Battle of the Books books. Some parents have been asking for the titles to purchase. I will post them here. Students are required to master at least two books. We only have the first five books to tell you about for now. The other five books will be announced at the end of Winter Break. For now, I would like for students to focus on mastering one book from this list, and casually reading as many as they would like. Here are the books! 1) Book Scavenger, by Jennifer Chambliss Bertman 2) An Eagle in the Snow, by Michael Morpurgo 3) Ms. Bixby's Last Day, by John David Anderson 4) Teddy Mars: Almost a World Record Breaker, by Molly B. Burnham 5) The Wild Robot, by Peter Brown You can search naver or here or here to buy. I do not recommend Amazon. As soon as we can announce the other five books, I will let you know! Mr. Baker |
