Hello everyone!
We had a busy week here in Grade 4 and in FP in general. Our trip to Job World was a smashing success as students ran about exploring and experiencing as much as they could. See pictures in the photos tab! Thursday and Friday we visited the Book Fair. I'm so thankful for the parent support - not only for the delicious snacks, but also for supporting a love of learning. My heart soared for those students carrying bags of books and excitedly flipping pages and sharing purchases with friends! IT was fantastic! Academically, we explored a few themes this week as well. We began to study fractions in Math while in Science we talked about life and cells as well as thought about the life and contributions of Stephen Hawking. In Writing we took some time to look at grammar and syntax while in Reading we began our book study on Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. Next week in Social Studies we will be looking at the variety of religions found in Korea and their effect on Korean culture. Also next week we will be having Book Week! Yay! Here is break down! Monday - Global Readers to World Leaders - Parents read to students in their mother tongue! Tuesday - Students read to pets! Wednesday - Book Character Day - Students may dress up as a book character of their choice (from a book they've read!) Thursday - Author Visit Day with Bryn Barnard Friday - Book Swap!* (Grade 4 will be running this one!) *Students are asked to bring in books they no longer want to swap! English or Korean! I hope you all have a great weekend!! - Mr. Baker Hello everyone!
This week moved pretty quickly as we were busy from the start. We had a great assembly on Tuesday - I think it was one of our best! I'm quite proud of the 4s for their hard work to help organize and work throughout the assembly. Wonderful, ladies and gentlemen! Also, congratulations to our award winners. This week saw another Grade 4 tradition with the Grade 4 store - see photos tab for pics! - This one went smoothly and for that we must not only thank the students' hard work, but also parents. Thank you so much for preparing such delicious food that was appreciated by the FP and the whole CDS communities. Hungry high school students happily devoured most of it, while teachers wished they had extra space in their bellies. Thank you! I must also thank Mr. Hill and Principal Shim who helped out with serving and making sure everyone was happy. I love my CDS family! Now the week is coming to a close and it is time to get ready for next week. Next week we will be having our field trip to Job World! On Tuesday, please ensure to send students with a packed lunch, water, and a healthy snack. Students must all wear their Khaki pants, white polo shirts, and either Dalton hoodie or Cardigan. After-School programs will happen after we get back. It will be a long bus ride, so for those students with sensitive bellies, I recommend a light breakfast. On Thursday and Friday we will be having a Book Fair. Like last time, I will bring students over to see what books are available and which are of interest. They will create a list and check back with parents on Thursday night to get permission and money to buy on Friday. If you have another arrangement - that is fine. My only requirement is that you let your kids buy lots of books! :) During the following week we will have Book Week. Grade 4 will be responsible for the Book Swap. We will be asking all CDS FP students to bring in books they are willing to swap. For each book a student brings, they will get a ticket to use to take another book. Both Korean and English books are fine to bring in. So feel free to do some spring cleaning and send in any books you think are taking up too much space on the shelves. Thank you! I hope you all have a great weekend!! - Mr. Baker - Hello everyone,
Last week was a short one. We mostly spent time completing Term 3 projects and getting portfolios up. While the portfolios are available for view - not all of the feedback has been given. I will get that done throughout the week. To start Term 4, we are welcoming our new student - Dave Shin! Welcome, Dave! Our students are very excited to meet you on Monday morning. On Tuesday we will have our FP Assembly! You are welcome to join us. It begins at 9:15. On Thursday we will have our Grade 4 store. I hope you have all heard about this from your kids! You'll be sending them in with toys, stationary, and goodies for sale to raise money for Child Fund. On Thursday, we will also start our PE swimming for Term 4. They will swim during the final two blocks of Thursdays - please send students with their swimming gear. Have a great week! - Mr. Baker |
