This is it, folks.
Our last week in Grade 4 is upon us. Academics are pretty much summed up as students this week are taking time to check and evaluate work on their own through rubrics and checklists as they should be able to self-evaluate in order to help build their success in Middle School. I will miss them, but look forward to seeing them in the Middle School hallways, and feel lucky to watch them grow from afar. Good luck, gang. But, before I get all teary-eyed, let's look at a few important activities and dates for next week and see what you, the parents, need to prepare for. First, Jeoparbee will take place on Tuesday and Thursday. Parents are not invited to this years event - but we will be happy to see you at Arch Day (combined with Term 5 Assembly) next Friday! Report Cards and MAP results will go out on Thursday afternoon. Arch Day: Please have students wear their khaki pants/skirts/skorts and white polos. The assembly will begin at 8:15 sharp. House breakfast will be at 10:25. Parents, please attend the assembly! Bring tissues! Dismissal at 11:20. Bus departs at 11:30. Graduation Day: Please have students wear black shoes in addition to their khaki pants/skirts/skorts and white polos. Students - arrive by 9:00am - go to our G4 classroom. 10:00 - Graduation Ceremony in the Dalton Hall 11:00 - 11:15 - Photos under the CDS Arch 11:30 - 12:30 Grad buffet at the Phoenix Cafe. Again, bring tissues. See you there!! - Mr. Baker

Hello everyone! Happy Friday!
Grade 4 has done a wonderful job this week as they've been working on their independent projects in both Science and Social Studies. They've also been busy writing their stories, some of whom will probably be finishing over the summer! In Math we have been multiplying and dividing fractions, tackling some Grade 5 level expectations early. Woohoo! Below I have posted our CDS FP Podcast. Click on the link and enjoy our podcast. We have 5 full episodes now! Woohoo again! Great job, Bella, Cailyn, Hanjoong, Juliet, and Sebin! Next week we will have our Summer Concert on Thursday, at 1. Please come! On that day we are asking that students where their polos and khakis with non-distracting shoes. No cardigans needed as it will be hot on stage. The following week, our last :(, we will have jeoparbee, but just for the kids. We will also have Arch Day combined with our Term 5 Assembly. Details to be announced! Finally, Grade 4 Graduation will be on Saturday, June 9. Have a great weekend!
Hi everyone!
Last week we had another busy one with students completing MAP testing for the year. I'm quite proud of the maturity and effort that Grade 4 displayed during our Math, Language, and Reading tests. I will let you know when the results are ready to be sent home. Great job everyone! Friday we also had our camping trip - what a great time we had and our Grade 4s (and 3s) were on their best behavior while enjoying the evening. Again thank you to all the parents for your support and trust as well as the PTA for the delicious food! See pics in the Photos tab. We also recorded a quick podcast. Click the link below! This week we will continue our studies. Our focus this week will be in learning about government in Social Studies as well as in thinking about our environment in Science. I will share some pictures later in the week. Have a great week! -Mr. Baker Hello everyone!
A busy week as students have been getting a taste of what Middle School has to offer. From orientation to lunch to tours and band introduction, I can see that my students are already anxiously awaiting Grade 5. I am sad. But, I will be okay. In particular, students have demonstrated particular interest in new instruments! Please check out the photos in the photo tab and please encourage their playing! In class, students have been recording podcasts in Science as well as working on their individually chosen writing projects. In Math we are busy working on percentages, while in Reading we are supporting our writing through author studies. Next week, in Social Studies, we will be looking at the Korean government and how it is separated. Next weekend we will be camping! Please make sure to send in sleeping bags on Monday (or Tuesday) and if you have a tent that your child wants to use (and they can put it up!) please feel free to send it in as well. Have a great weekend! Hi everyone! CDS is offering a summer art program. Check out the details below! Hello everyone! Well, Term 5 has started and we are in the final term of the year. Before we know it, Grade 4 will be Grade 5. Speaking of, we will have Grade 5 orientation starting on Monday (May 7). Of course you have been made aware of this parents and are invited to join. I encourage all of you to do so. On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will have the chance to know more about MS House and Lunch. Students must be by the Middle School Lounge at 7:55 am. They will learn about this on Monday morning. Below are the lists of students and when they will participate.
Tuesday: Group A: Yejun, Yunhao, Juliet, and Joseph Group B: John, Alex, Sanghyuk, and Amy Wednesday: Group A: Bella, Kevin, Toby, and Sophia Group B: Sebin, Grace, Caiyln, Hanjoong, and Dave.
