Hello everyone! Another exciting week in Grade 4. In Math we took some time to learn about how to use our Student Resource book as well as place value while sneaking in some double digit multiplication. Students must continue to do XtraMath everyday! In Reading, we have been thinking about characters, how they act, and how they can change throughout the story. This growth is important to help our students grow themselves. I have been delighted with the general responses to inquiry. Well done guys! In Writing, we have tackled two areas - first, editing our weekend journals. Students have been using the grammar posters to aid their writing. For our Writing classes, we have been adjusting our small moment stories to sound more like stories, and less like journals. This process will go on throughout the next couple of weeks. In Tech, Mr. Bray joined us to start setting up our google site portfolios. He will be joining us every Thursday, until we are ready to work on our own. Thank you Mr. Bray! In Science and Social Studies, I have focused fully on Science this week and thus will spend next week on Social Studies. We have had a successful week working in our science stations about light and sound. You can see a few pictures over in the photos tab but I will save most for their portfolios. Looking ahead, After next week we will be looking at magnets in Grade 4. I am posting a magnets video on the science page. We will be having Library day on September 13. Please clear your schedule and check here for more details. Also, I have added a link to a great online dictionary that our students are free to use. Check the front page. Have a great weekend everyone! - Mr. Baker -
